How to play Indian Rummy in five steps

  1. Deal. Each player gets 13 cards from two packs plus two jokers. A random card is cut to decide the wild joker: every card of that rank, and the printed jokers, can stand in for any card.
  2. Draw and discard. On your turn take the top card of the pile or the face-up discard, then discard one card.
  3. Group your cards. A sequence is three or more cards of one suit in a row (A-2-3 or Q-K-A). A set is three or four cards of the same rank in different suits.
  4. Get a pure sequence. To show, you need at least two sequences, and at least one must be a pure sequence with no joker in it. The rest can be sequences or sets, with jokers allowed.
  5. Show. Select your last card, tap Show, and the hand ends. The others score the points left in their unmatched cards.

Scoring

The winner scores 0. The others score the value of unmatched cards: Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 count 10 each, other cards their number, jokers 0. A loser scores at most 80, and if they have no pure sequence every card counts. When someone reaches 101 or 201 points they are out and the lowest total wins.
