Mendikot (also Mendi Coat or Dehla Pakad, "catch the ten") is a partnership card game from Gujarat and Maharashtra where the prize isn't tricks but tens. Capture three or four of the four tens and your team wins the hand. Play it free here with a computer partner.
How to play Mendikot in five steps
- Teams of two. You and your partner sit opposite; 13 cards each. Play goes anticlockwise.
- No trump at first. The first time a player can't follow suit, the card they play sets the trump for the rest of the hand (cut hukum).
- Follow suit. After that, the highest trump or the highest card of the suit led wins each trick.
- Catch the tens. Tricks with tens matter most. Feed your partner tens when they are winning a trick.
- Score. 3 or 4 tens wins the hand (+1). At 2–2, the team with more tricks wins. All four tens is a Mendikot (+2), and all 13 tricks a whitewash (+3).

Questions
What does Mendikot mean?
'Mendi' means the ten and 'kot' (coat) is a heavy defeat: making a Mendikot means capturing all four tens.
How is trump chosen in Mendikot?
There are several ways. Cheettukali uses 'cut hukum': the first card played by someone who can't follow suit becomes trump.
What happens if the tens are split 2–2?
The team that won more tricks (7 or more) wins the hand.
