How to Play Solitaire: Your First Game, Move by Move
Never played Solitaire, or forgotten how? Open Solitaire in another tab and follow along.

Step 1: Look at the table
Seven columns. The first has one card, the last has seven, and only the top card of each is face up. Top left is the stock (face-down pile). Top right are four empty foundations.
Step 2: Any Aces?
If an Ace is showing, tap it: it goes to a foundation. A 2 of the same suit can follow later.
Step 3: Build down in alternating colours
Find a card that can go on another: a red 9 on a black 10, a black 4 on a red 5. Move it, and the card underneath turns face up. That's the whole idea of the game: turn the hidden cards over.
Step 4: Move groups
A face-up run like black 8, red 7, black 6 can move together onto a red 9. Tap the top card of the run (the 8) or drag it.
Step 5: When you're stuck, use the stock
Tap the stock. A card turns over onto the waste. If it fits somewhere, play it. If not, tap again. When the stock is empty, tap the empty space to turn the waste back over.
Step 6: Empty columns are for Kings
When you clear a column completely, only a King (with any run on it) can go there. Choose a King that helps you uncover more cards.
Step 7: Finish
Keep sending cards to the foundations. Once every card is face up and the stock is empty, the game finishes itself.
That's it. Your next step: read how to win more often.
