Pyramid looks simple: find two cards that make 13. But the order in which you take pairs decides whether the pyramid falls or gets stuck halfway.

1. Read the bottom row first

All seven bottom cards are free at the start. Before you tap anything, look for every pair you can make there, and every card that has a partner higher up in the pyramid.

2. Free the pyramid evenly

A card in row 6 needs two cards below it removed. Clearing one side completely while the other side is full often leaves you with cards you can never reach. Spread your removals across the row.

3. Don't rush a pair if both cards have other uses

Say you have two 6s and one 7 free. Which 6 should you use? Pick the one that uncovers more cards above it, or the one whose twin is buried where you'll need the 7 later.

4. Kings are free moves

A King leaves on its own. Remove free Kings at once: they never need a partner and they always uncover something.

5. Count the partners

There are four of each rank. If three Queens are already gone, the last Ace in the pyramid has only one possible partner left. Know where it is before you commit.

6. Use the waste as a store

The top waste card stays available until you turn another card. If it might pair with something you're about to uncover, uncover first, then pair.

7. Spend your passes carefully

You have three trips through the stock on Cheettukali. On the first pass, notice which cards are coming; on the second and third you can plan around them.

8. Watch for blocked pairs

If a 4 sits directly on top of the only remaining 9 that could pair with it, that 4 can only be removed with another 9. Spot these early.

9. Use undo to learn

Many Pyramid deals can't be won at all. When you lose, undo a few moves and try a different pair. You'll quickly learn which choices matter.

FAQ

What is the best strategy for Pyramid Solitaire?

Clear the bottom row evenly, remove Kings right away, and choose pairs that uncover the most cards. Plan around the cards still to come from the stock.

Can every Pyramid game be won?

No. A good share of deals are impossible whatever you do, which is why undo is useful for learning.
