Call Break Scoring Explained (with Examples)
Call Break scoring is simple once you've seen a few rounds. Here it is with examples.

The basic rule
- Made your call (won at least that many tricks): you score + your call.
- Each trick above your call adds 0.1.
- Missed your call: you score − your call.
Examples
| Call | Tricks won | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 3 | +3.0 |
| 3 | 5 | +3.2 |
| 3 | 2 | −3.0 |
| 6 | 6 | +6.0 |
| 6 | 5 | −6.0 |
| 1 | 4 | +1.3 |
Notice the last line: winning 4 tricks on a call of 1 scores only 1.3, while calling 4 and making it scores 4.0. And the 6 call that fell one short scores −6. Accurate calling is everything.
A full match
A match is normally 5 rounds. Add the scores; the highest total wins. Example after 5 rounds: You 3.0 + 2.1 − 4 + 5.0 + 3.0 = 9.1.
Common variations
- 8+ call wins: at some tables, making a call of 8 or more wins the match outright.
- Extra tricks as penalty: some players subtract 0.1 per extra trick to stop safe low calls.
- Whole numbers: some count each extra trick as a full point. That changes the strategy a lot.
Cheettukali uses the most common version: +0.1 per extra trick and 5 rounds (you can choose 3 or 10).
