Call Break: Counting Cards to Make Your Call
You don't need a perfect memory to count in Call Break. Three things are enough.

1. Count spades
There are 13 spades. Count them as they fall. When you know the opponents have none left, every spade in your hand is a sure winner, and so is every side-suit card that is the highest left in its suit.
2. Remember who is out of a suit
When a player can't follow suit, they must trump. Note it: next time that suit is led, they'll trump again if they still have spades. Don't lead your King of that suit into their void.
3. Track the top card
The highest card of each suit still out is the "boss". Once the Ace of hearts is gone, the King is boss. Lead a boss card and, unless someone trumps it, it wins.
Use the must-beat rule
Players must play higher if they can. So when you lead low, the high cards come out early, and you learn exactly who holds what.
