8 or more wins the game

At some tables, making a call of 8 or more wins the whole match immediately. It encourages bold calls with very strong hands.

Extra tricks as a penalty

Standard scoring gives +0.1 per extra trick. Some groups subtract instead, to punish "safe" low calls.

Whole points for extra tricks

Others count extra tricks as full points, which makes overcalling much less painful.

Redeal rules

Many players redeal if someone has no spades, or no face cards (J, Q, K, A).

Minimum call

Almost everyone uses 1 as the minimum. A few allow a call of 0 like Spades' Nil, but that's rare.

What Cheettukali uses

Must beat, must trump, +0.1 per extra trick, 3/5/10 rounds. Full rules here.
